Your new role
As a long-term Cover Supervisor, you will be available for general cover. You will not be required to plan lessons, however you will deliver the content that has been set out by the class teacher or supply co-ordinator. As a long term role, this will be a chance to immerse yourself within the curriculum as well as the pastoral element of teaching. Building rapport with students is the gateway for making a real difference in this long term cover supervisor role. You must ensure that students are engaged in lessons, working to the best of their ability and following the schools policies and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in your application for these roles you will need to have secondary teaching experience of at least 3 months, recent experience teaching within a secondary school or similar setting and be willing to travel to central Birmingham. You must have experience delivering a range of lessons including English, Maths and Science. Experienced teachers are also welcome to apply as cover supervisors if you prefer a post with no planning responsibilities.
