Assistant Leisure Manager required in Atherstone

Evening and weekend work will be required, for which time off in lieu can be claimed. A current valid driving licence and regular access to a car for travel in relation to the role will be required.

Key Tasks

1. To support the Leisure Facilities Manager in the effective and efficient day-to-day management and operation of the leisure facilities, thereby ensuring the delivery of cost-efficient leisure services for the local community.

2. To ensure that the leisure facilities are appropriately staffed at all times, that the staff are managed and working effectively, appraised and motivated and that they are trained and developed in order to meet the requirements of the service.

3. In conjunction with Leisure Facilities Development Team colleagues, to ensure the effective delivery of activity programmes that meet both customer demand and the budgetary requirements of the Authority.

4. To co-operate with Leisure Facility Development Team colleagues in the promotion and implementation of initiatives and projects that are designed to enhance the quality of leisure service provision and improve the financial performance of the leisure facilities.

5. To effectively monitor and audit all aspects of performance within the leisure facilities in order to ensure that appropriate standards and targets are met, to work with the Leisure Facilities Development Team to raise performance standards and to report accordingly, as directed by the Leisure Facilities Manager.

6. To assist in the preparation and control of those budgets associated with the operation of the Borough Council’s leisure facilities.

7. In conjunction with the Leisure Facilities Development Team, to assist in any review of proposals relating to the schedule of fees and charges to be applied within the leisure facilities.

8. In respect of all day-to-day activity undertaken within the leisure facilities, to guide Duty Officers in their compliance with all appropriate legislation, industry guidance and corporate policies, processes and procedures, including those relating to the provision of a healthy, clean and safe environment in which to both participate in leisure activity and work.

9. To ensure the maintenance of accurate records in relation to the day-to-day operation of the leisure facilities and, as directed and required by the Leisure Facilities Manager, to prepare related draft reports, for further consideration by senior management.

10. To serve as a main point of contact for all enquiries, complaints / compliments and requests for information relating to the Borough Council’s leisure facilities.

11. As directed by the Leisure Facilities Manager, to represent the leisure facilities and / or the Division at appropriate sub-regional, local or internal meetings and to provide timely feedback therefrom to Divisional Management Team.

12. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant aspects of the management and operation of leisure facilities and to advise on any potential implications for the Authority’s facilities and services.
