Lead Systems Architect - C# Payments Cloud Migration

Great opportunity to lead a small team of systems architects as they look to move a major payments platform from physical on-premise infrastructure to the cloud. The platform is windows / .net based and complex.

The right candidate will have a broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies and in particular Microsoft software solutions with an emphasis on Microsoft’s Azure PaaS and IaaS offerings, and be able to design and architect complex cloud systems.

Key skills

Previous experience with Cloud migrations, particularly desirable is a previous project relating to moving from On Premise to Microsoft Azure (both PaaS and IaaS) but would also be interested in other platforms - AWS, Google Cloud, Cloud foundry etc

- Strong development background and familiarity with the Microsoft stack (.net / C#, SQL Server etc) as well as development patterns and practices
- Understanding of interfaces and the protocols e.g. TCP/IP, Web Services - SOAP Rest etc
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, using a combination of industry standard toolsets, such as Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, UML, ArchiMate, BPMN, Prototyping tools, Project planning, Agile & Waterfall artefacts, etc.
- Strong technical background in both Hardware and Software. An appreciation of TOGAF, Zachman and their "real world" application.
- Understands that complexity is the enemy
- Appreciation of business models, cost/benefit analysis, financial models, budgeting and risk management
- Ability to understand the political sensitivities of a complex business, and how to navigate these to ensure suitable outcomes for the organisation
- Ability to understand the ‘big picture’ and short-term implications of decisions and able to reconcile both to organisational aims
- Experience of service design (SOA, Microservices, ESB's)
- Object Oriented Design; use of UML or other suitable taxonomy to convey design.
- Able to apply business strategy to real world technical problem solving.
- Experience of designing scalable software systems and distributed processing.
- Experienced with working with and integration of ERP systems, CMS systems, Big Data, high volume/throughput systems, APIs, MaaS, Middleware, SOAP, loose coupling, and transaction-based applications
