Senior Financial Reporting Accountant
My client based in Lichfield is currently looking to recruit an ambitious and enthusiastic Senior Financial Reporting Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will provide Finance and Accounting Services, in particular to ensure the organisation produces accurate and timely management accounts, to ensure the Society's balance sheet is an accurate reflection of its assets and liabilities.
Senior Financial Reporting Accountants Key Accountabilities:
The creation of accurate management information all areas of the Society, in the development and provision of a world class standard transactional operation.
Communication and visibility of risks and opportunities relating to Key Balance Sheet Accounts
Ensuring activities are aligned to the vision and design within Finance Shared Services
Regular communication with key internal customers on important issues, Finance Business Partners being a key stakeholder.
Delivery of all services within resource allocation
Senior Financial Reporting Accountants Duties to include:
To manage, coach, motivate and develop the Reporting team of 5, in line with PERFORM principles and to promote a customer service and continuous improvement culture within the team.
Provide Management accounting services for the production of internal management accounts for all businesses and financial performance reports, including the Exec pack for board distribution.
Ensuring legal and compliance requirements met in accordance with accounting policies and FRS102
Responsible for Financial Reporting SOPS ensuring these are up to date and reviewed for continuous improvement opportunity.
For service delivery; ensure services performed within the agreed service levels, measure and follow up the quality and efficiency of processes. This includes management of incident and requests from internal customers and managing internal relationships for period sign offs.
To liaise with the Decision Support team and highlight variances to budget or forecast that requiring business stakeholder involvement.
To provide financial support to business support centre functions through the provision of periodic reports and analysis and attendance at management meetings where requested
To identify, escalate and problem solve issues raised via reporting to remove and eliminate blockers and to improve the effectiveness of financial processes.
To support the external audit and review processes.
To ensure the balance sheet accurately reflects all assets and liabilities through ownership and continuous development of the balance sheet reconciliation and review process.
Ownership of nominal ledger code and cost centre structure. Ensuring adjustments are correctly recorded with appropriate level of authorization.
To introduce and define KPI's and to measure continuous improvement activity in line with the vision and to measure efficiencies achieved.
To provide financial support to ad hoc projects as directed.
Any other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Finance Manager and Head of Finance.
Deputise for the Finance Manager
The successful Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will have/ be:
Newly or Fully qualified ACMA/ ACCA
Experience of handling large volumes of data
Good experience and understanding of financial controls
Experience of dealing with stakeholders from finance and non-finance teams
A proactive, problem solving mindset
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement experience
Experience of managing, coaching, motivating and developing teams of qualified and part qualified accountants.
Highly organised and able to stay calm under pressure, delivering to tight timelines.
Experience of change management
