Title: Quality Manager

Reporting to: General Manager - Dudley

Based at: IPS Dudley

Purpose: Working with the General Manager and Site Quality team, the Quality Manager will be responsible for managing all Quality risks and opportunities across the site.

Purpose of the Role

The role is customer facing and the Quality Manager will serve as the first point of contact for customer visits and audits as well as managing 3rd party certification inspections.

To manage adherence to all food safety, legal, customer and quality requirements for day to day production at the Dudley site.

Managing change and driving a culture of quality across the site is a key element of the role. The business has a track record of developing people and is keen to recruit an individual with strong experience and commitment to grow their role alongside the company.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Specific tasks include (please note that this list is not exhaustive)

*

To adhere to and promote best practice in accordance with company health and safety requirements.

*

To successfully manage and exceed customers’ expectations on matters relating to food safety, quality and hygiene by:

*

Representing the Quality Team within the site Senior Management Team.

*

Effective management and motivation of the site quality and hygiene teams to achieve commercial, site and Quality objectives within the agreed timelines.

*

Measuring site standards both across all operations in line with business, customer and legislative requirements.

*

Working with the Group Technical Services Manager, assist in the development, implementation and management of Quality Management and Operating Procedures including all Hygiene Operations, allergen management and pest control.

*

Ensuring appropriate cover is in place to support the site through shifts & weekend working when demands arise.

*

Work collaboratively with internal and external customers to effectively deliver change, improvements and new products to the business whilst always demonstrating the business behaviours.

*

Reviewing, auditing and challenging factory operations with regards to product safety and quality to ensure that manufacturing operations maintain the highest standards in line with the overarching Group Quality Management System.

*

Act as the site HACCP Team Leader ensuring development and monitoring of the site HACCP system in accordance with the latest 3rd Party and Customer standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (Cont.)

*

Using root cause analysis ensure that any deviations to the agreed standards including customer complaints are investigated and acted upon to minimise any future risks.

*

To conduct factory audits to ensure that all areas comply with hygienic audits, both internal and external, reporting any anomalies found ensuing that GMP are strictly adhered to by all staff.

*

To manage the training and development of new starters within own department and provide on-going training in line with BRC standard to existing employees.

*

Champion customer complaint reduction for the site and develop and report on leading measures.

*

To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post.

Key Performance Indicators

*

Maintaining 3rd Party Food Safety Certification at Grade A or better.

*

Successfully managing customer audits ensuring close out and compliance.

*

100% of all internal audits completed within the agreed timescales.

*

85% of all team training completed at all times.

Key Experiences – Essential

*

Working within or supplying leading retailers or major brands.

*

FMCG Food manufacturing background, preferably in ambient, shelf stable products.

*

Managing and accountable for a site QA & Hygiene team.

*

Working to KPI’s / deadlines.

*

Management of Food Safety, Legality and Quality products using multidiscipline teams.

Skills and Qualifications - Essential

*

HACCP - Level 3 or Level 4 to CIEH or RIPH Syllabus.

*

Food Hygiene – Level 3 or Level 4 to CIEH or RIPH Syllabus.

*

PC literate

*

Root Cause Analysis Tools – 5Y, Ishikawa, Fishbone

Qualifications – Desirable

*

HNC / HND / Degree in Food Science or equivalent

*

Certified Internal Auditor or ISO9001 / ISO22000 Lead Auditor

*

CI Tools such as 5S, DMAIC
