We are offering a very exciting opportunity for you to train with us as a HGV Class 2 Driver Operator based at our depot in Wednesbury, Birmingham! This is a brilliant chance to join the market leader in powered access beginning as a 3.5 tonne driver with a view to eventually becoming a fully fledged HGV Class 2 Driver Operator.

We will take you through extensive training such as sponsoring you to gain your HGV Class 2 licence, CPC, CSCS, IPAF qualification, First Aid Training as well as being taken through a structured Buddy Scheme. By the end of your training you will be a qualified IPAF Driver Operator operating our impressive fleet such as the 38 metre boom!

As a Driver Operator at Nationwide Platforms you will eventually be able to drive our vehicle mounted access equipment to our customer’s site and operate them safely. This could be as varied as setting up a camera crew at a sporting event, lighting equipment on a film set or providing access for window cleaning at height.

To apply you must have a driving licence, no fear of heights, be very flexible with working hours, have the ability to use your own initiative, have good judgement and excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities include: -

  • Operating truck mounted mobile elevation platforms.

  • Drive vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, as appropriate to category of licence held.

  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and ancillary equipment.

  • Comply with all relevant legislation regarding safety, and working time etc.

  • Site and set up machine correctly in accordance with training and operators manual.

  • Act as an ambassador for the company, providing a high standard of customer care and being polite at all times.

  • Relay appropriate customer queries to depot staff as required.

  • Accurately complete all relevant paperwork.

The ideal candidate will have: -

  • A full driving licence (essential) with 6 points or less.

  • Flexible with working days and hours.

  • Ability to use own initiatives and make sound judgements.

  • Good problem solver.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.

  • Occasional overnight stays away.
