Statement Taker Rugby and Leamington Spa and Nuneaton Fixed Term Contract (18 months) Full Time The closing date for this post is 12 noon on 17th August 2018. A strategic alliance has been formed between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police in order to enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets. By working more closely together the forces will benefit from greater operational and organisational resilience, making us the fourth largest geographic police area in England and Wales. The main purpose of the role is to engage with victims and witnesses to obtain written statements and support investigating officers in other related basic investigative support tasks. Main Responsibilities: To interview and record the evidence of victims and witnesses in statement form. To provide basic support to investigating officers. This will include tasks related to gathering of evidence
and investigative tasks, i.e. seizure and continuity of exhibits obtained during the statement taking process and viewing of CCTV material. To attend departmental briefings in order to support investigations. To liaise with partnership agencies to gain information. Disseminate information gleaned as intelligence or evidence, in the appropriate way. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required. Experience/Skills: Knowledge: A working knowledge of the understanding of the rules continuity and evidential points to prove Experience: Previous experience in taking evidential written statements Key Skills: The post holder should have: Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with people from all walks of life and communicate with them at a level commensurate with their understanding and needs The ability to
work as part of a team Have excellent communication skills both written and orally Special Conditions: Locations The ability to travel to, and occasionally work from, other locations within the Warwickshire and West Mercia policing areas.
