From servicing and maintenance through to a project-managed installation, our client tailors their services to each project. Possessing extensive experience in all fire-protection technologies, they ensure their clients benefit from the most suitable solution for their needs.

Due to continued growth and expansion, our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their friendly and dynamic team in West Bromwich, whilst working on an ever-increasing number of projects. The successful applicant will be joining a highly successful specialist employer with a strong client base and an excellent reputation for the delivery of challenging work, on time and on budget.

The Role

• Working collaboratively with the Project Management and Sales teams, assisting in the co-ordination of quotations and proposal development, including pre-tender site surveys
• Creating project work schedules, budgets and cash flow forecasts
• Procuring materials & services and negotiating with subcontractors
• Reviewing contractual documentation; assisting Project Managers with commercial and contractual matters
• Managing the cash flow on projects; preparing financial information for Directors and Project Managers and running financial variations
• Ensuring all contract control activities are carried out and updated as required
• Accurately recording and processing related documents and records
• Building and maintaining customer confidence
• Developing an understanding of the full range of products and services offered by our Client
• Familiar with all relevant standards and codes of practice
• Continual review and challenge of existing commercial processes to identify and implement best practice
• To draw up contracts and sub-contracts or ensure contracts have been drawn up prior to commencement of work, and to review contracts drawn up by third parties
• Identify risk and opportunities associated with contracts, and manage as appropriate
• Attending client meetings, including project commencement and close out appointments
• Preparing monthly financial reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement
• Providing final account sign off and agreement of interim assessments, including early warning notifications, compensation events and extensions of time etc.
• Financial reconciliation and all contractual administration
• Administration of accounts to final stages
The Person
• Ideally suited to a qualified Quantity Surveyor with 2+ years in the civil construction and M&E sectors
• A high level of dedication, expertise and flexibility, whilst possessing the ability to negotiate contract claims with customers and suppliers and manage risk associated with the Company's contracts
• Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of Contract
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes
• Knowledge and understanding of sub-contracting principles, together with the ability to draft and administer sub contracts
• Proficiency in administration, writing, numeracy, IT and MS Office etc.
• People management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Enthusiasm and results focus, with an ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external clients
• Full driving licence to undertake short visits within the UK
