JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: CARE WORKER

LOCATION: SHREWSBURY (Whitchurch, Wem, Market Drayton)

JOB TITLE: CARE WORKER (Domiciliary Care)

SALARY: Up to £8.53 p/h depending on experience

HOURS: Full and Part Time positions available with flexible shifts (weekdays, evenings & weekends)

THE COMPANY: Our client is an established community based care and support provider that was established in 2001. They are a leading provider of community-based social care and support for vulnerable adults and children living across England and Wales.
Our client supports thousands of people, encouraging them to live independently in their own homes by providing a wide range of care and support services for people with diverse backgrounds and needs. Each person is unique, and our client has developed specific services tailored for each individual that they care for.

THE ROLE: To be part of a team of staff to meet the personal care and practical needs of Service Users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual, while promoting independence. This role includes all care that the Service User would reasonably expect from members of their own family, but does not include any tasks of nursing care.

We welcome applications from carers who drive and have access to their own vehicle as well as those who do not. Walkers are welcome to apply for roles located in the Wem, Whitchurch and Market Drayton Areas.

Key Responsibilities of the job role to include:-

* Assist Service Users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and using the toilet.
* Help Service Users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
* Help promote the physical and mental activity of Service Users by talking to them, accompanying them on outings and sharing other activities, such as recreation.
* Make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes.
* To inspect and launder Service Users clothing.
* Prepare light meals, set tables and trays, serve meals, wash up and tidy dining areas after meals.
* Answer the door, telephone and emergency alarms and greet visitors.
* Ensure that all visits to Service Users are carried out and any inability/failure to fulfil a visit is immediately reported to the Branch Manager or their delegate.
* Write reports and complete Company paperwork (in Service User homes). Where directed, to attend Service User Review Meetings and to participate in planning care delivery objectives.
* Monitor and report to the Branch Manager any changes in health, well-being or social circumstances of the Service User in order for their needs to be re-assessed and the services provided to be reviewed.
* Encourage and enable Service Users to follow agreed care plans, ensuring that Service Users are fully involved in the delivery of their service and regain/maintain as much independence as possible.
* Immediately report to the Branch Manager any complaints received from Service Users, relatives or social services.
