Job Title: Quality Engineer

Location: Firsteel, Walsall

Hourly Rate: Negotiable dependent on experience

Contract Length: 6 Month

The Role

A quality Engineer is required to Support Site Health and Safety and environmental initiatives as part of daily activities both on and off site. The Quality Engineer is an essential part of the Technical team, and will be required to manage the investigations / outcomes into all customer complaints / customer concerns raised on the company ensuring that all aspects of complaints are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, and that all relevant information is passed throughout the company. The quality Engineer will also work within the Technical team understanding all aspects of the laboratory function and providing cover where required.


?? Ownership of customer complaint procedure

?? Complaint investigation, root cause analysis, implementation of effective corrective actions. Communication of corrective action to customer

?? Visit customers as necessary to view and discuss complaints

?? Discussions with Raw Material Suppliers where the quality of the incoming Raw Material has initiated a customer complaint or Non Conforming Product

?? Cascade complaint information / samples to shift crews, with auditable evidence of briefings. Organise / Chair complaint meetings where necessary

?? Advise and assist manufacturing team members to deliver site targets and quality objectives

?? Advise and assist manufacturing team members with Technical issues arising on the coating line and other manufacturing lines

?? Liaise closely with customer base, developing close working relationships and providing Technical support where required

?? Develop & maintain measures for controlling customer complaints including tracking of complaint resolution speed and volume/value of complaint received/credited

?? Set and maintain quality standards for manufacturing process lines

?? Ensure that Technical systems such as OGL database and defect manual are kept up to date

?? Provide Technical support to all departments within the company

?? Undertake structured continuous improvement activities in respect of both manufacturing processes and products

?? Support Accreditation to ISO9001 in Customer Complaints

?? Learn all aspects of the Lab function, provide cover when required.

Requirements / Personal Specification

?? A good knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques is required

?? Experience in Further Processing (e.g. slitting / blanking / levelling)

?? Flexibility for travel

?? Driving License essential

?? Professional integrity combined with technical competence to maintain customer and supplier confidence is essential

?? The job holder will have the desired communication skills to be able to discuss complex quality issues with both Management and external customers.
