Position: Homeless Support Officer

Location: West Midlands
Salary: circa GBP18,600- GBP19,800
Duration: 18 months

THE ROLE

We are facing a huge issue with homelessness across the country and so
many of our clients are reviewing/changing their approach. Our client
has managed to secure some significant funding from the MHCLG and is
subsequently recruiting a number of roles to supplement their service,
including these Homeless Support Officer positions. This role is
funded currently until the end of March 2020. Working as part of a
team to deliver an excellent service to the people we support and be
flexible in your approach to work; you will have a commitment to
equality and diversity and take a positive approach to providing
support.

It is essential that you are able to work to a rota which will include
weekend and bank holiday working and preferably you will have a
driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

The Hostel will operate on a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; adopting
a holistic, multi-agency approach to helping our customers develop the
necessary skills to maximise their chances of independent living. It
is due to open early in September 2018.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assisting those people presenting as homeless/rough sleepers to
access temporary accommodation.

* Undertake the admission and interviewing of clients to assess,
identify and act upon their housing needs and to offer support to
improve health and social well-being.

* Support service users involving advocacy on behalf of the service
use and engaging with the appropriate agencies and services as
required.

* Ensure that accommodation charges are paid by residents.

* Maintain accurate and confidential records.

REQUIREMENTS

* It is essential that you are able to work to a rota which will

* This role will be subject to a DBS check
