Hygiene and Reverse Logistics Manager (Coventry)

A Hygiene and Reverse Logistics Manager is required to work within a chilled, frozen and ambient distribution centre in Coventry. The opening of a c180,000 sq ft distribution centre this October in Coventry is the result of continued organic growth and will support this leading 3PL's customer's ever-expanding network of operations. As the Hygiene and Reverse Logistics Manager you will have a high profile job within the operation. Your role will see you manage two key area's of this busy distribution centre's operations. Firstly you will ensure that hygiene and tidiness comply with quality standards at all times and that the hygiene schedule is completed within set time frames. Your hygiene team will comprise of a supervisor, two team leaders and two operatives on each shift who will carry out a variety of cleaning, pest control and small maintenance tasks to ensure that the distribution centre is a safe and clean environment to work within.

The Reverse Logistics management piece is time critical and will manage the inbound flow of vehicles returning from their destinations carrying roll cages with a range of waste related products. As the vehicles return to the distribution centre your team will unload cages containing barrels, cardboard, general and food waste. Trailers will then need to be swept & cleaned if required and re-loaded with empty roll cages and barrels for subsequent outbound loads. Your team will then manage all waste streams and operate machinery to ensure that cardboard and other recyclable materials are prepared ready for despatch to third party operations. Your Reverse Logistics team will comprise of a supervisor, two team leaders and two operatives on each shift.

In addition to the operational tasks you will have responsibility for managing budget expectations, stock control of all hygiene equipment, materials and supplies in addition to making sure that mechanical equipment is maintained and serviced by the engineering team.

In terms of employee management you will be actively involved in the development and training of your team to ensure that they are multi-skilled and operate within company and external guidelines. You will regularly assess and appraise your team and plan, manage and control labour usage to achieve budget and productivity.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience within similar roles, have strong organisational, people management and planning experience. It is hoped that you will have a qualification or experience working with IOSH, COSHH, IPAF or equivalents. Applicants from Hygiene, Facilities Management, Reverse Logistics, Recycling or military backgrounds would be an advantage.
