35 hours per week (Flexible Working Hours to suit child care and school hours will be considered)

We are in the middle of a rapid expansion, adding to our stock of 1,125 homes through acquiring homes in Stoke and Newcastle-under-Lyme. We plan to acquire over 200 properties in the next four years and commence a programme of new build homes too. We want to help our tenants into owner-occupation, wherever possible, and are trailblazing the new Rent To Buy scheme in the area.

About the role:

Working closely with the Chief Executive, Senior Management Team and Board of Directors, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring EPIC meets its legal, regulatory and legislative responsibilities particularly within the areas of Health and Safety and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) including ensuring all staff and Board Members are adequately trained to fulfil their duties.

You will be the Data Protection Officer for EPIC, a role which holds specific responsibilities under the GDPR including reporting directly to the Board on compliance. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining our Health and Safety Management System, including ensuring our fire safety responsibilities are met both for the office and all of our properties.

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring all Board, Committee and Management Meetings are organised appropriately and run smoothly including attending and taking accurate minutes. In addition, you will ensure that all meetings are carried out in line with our Memorandum and Articles, Standing Orders and the NHF Code of Governance. Working closely with the Company Secretary and Chairperson you will ensure we have appropriate governance arrangements in place and that we submit the relevant updates to Companies House and the Charities Commission.

Who we're looking for:

Systematic, meticulous and thorough in your approach, you will have excellent project management and planning skills and the energy and ambition to support the delivery of key corporate projects. You will be confident in your approach to role, and be knowledgeable in the areas of Health and Safety and GDPR. You will hold a relevant professional qualification and be willing to pursue further study to develop within the role.

The ideal candidates will be proactive and demonstrate a willingness and drive to work at the highest level. An understanding of social housing would be beneficial, but is not essential. Candidates will have experience of working in a busy environment balancing conflicting priorities. You will be able to undertake investigations into irregularities or non compliance areas, putting your findings into a written report to the Management Team and Board with clear recommendations for improvements. You will deliver training sessions to our staff and board; and so will have excellent presentation skills.

Candidates will be expected to be flexible in their approach to work, as you will be expected to attend Board and Committee meetings, usually held outside normal office hours. Minute taking experience advantageous but not essential.

Candidates will be proficient with all MS Office packages and have the ability to learn and operate bespoke packages such as our Health and Safety Management Software.

A driving licence and use of your own vehicle is advantageous for site visits.
