A regional Main Contractor who have been established for over 50 years are looking to add to their procurement team by taking on a Senior Buyer.

The company are privately owned and are involved in the industrial, commercial, retail, primary care and fit out sector.

The Senior Buyer will need to demonstrate a proven track record within strategic sourcing, managing supplier relationships, negotiation and process compliance, leading sourcing activities and supplier integration into project teams.
The role will require good analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value for us.

The Senior Buyer will

- Work closely with the Procurement Director to ensure earliest possible involvement with projects and with Bid teams.
- Have the ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance
- Procure all major materials and services, including subcontracts, in collaboration with our projects and business units, evaluate supplier responses, negotiate with suppliers and place orders.
- Liaise with project teams and business managers to understand project requirements and develop project specific procedures, procurement plans and schedules
- Manage procurement and supply chain staff.
- Compile performance management information relating to suppliers for onward communication to the Procurement director and Senior Managers, to ensure continuous improvement within the supply chain
- Manage procurement relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Keep abreast of market developments, demand trends and risks and ensure that client's requirements are understood
- Focus on delivering added value through technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency.
- Develop an understanding of project, business and customer requirements
- Establish long term supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality and continuous improvement to deliver competitive advantage
- Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent
- Be able to manage supplier relations to our benefit
- Be able to deliver cost savings and cost reduction, measure & review performance and implement continuous improvement
- Work within the collaborative culture
- Be a good team player and work for the benefit of our Clients and projects

The role will require the suitable candidate to be based in our regional offices with frequent visits to other regional offices and project sites as required

Salary and Package:

50-55k basic plus car/allowance
