Based at the Trust Vehicle Workshops to carry out the duties of a skilled motor vehicle mechanic to the standards, polices and procedures of the Trust; to the satifaction of the Assistant Head of fleet and fleet manager. Role will require some movement between sitesz, flexible working hours and rota out of hours call out cover.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES

1) Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles operated by the trust and where applicable third party owned vehicles

2) Carry out effective overhaul, repair and servicing of the vehicles in a safe and economical and timely manner employing skills and knowledge as required

3) Carry out effective repair and service of specialist equipment used on ambulance vehicles within the skill and training given

4) To test and diagnose faults on vehiclesx with the aid of diagnostic equipment available. If suitibley qualified to undertake the testing of vehicles within an MOT registered Test station to the required standards and document these tests

5) Note and report additional work arising to supervision for decision on scope of repairs tp be undertaken

6) Complete all relevant documentation relating to work undertaken and iff applicable enter these details into Trust Fleet IT System. 9Training will be given in use on the system)

7) Indent from stores or order to agreed limits parts for work in progress as approved by Assistant Head of fleet

8) Attend damaged or defective vehicles to effect repairs or recover to Trust workshop for rectification at all times observing appropriate safety and traffic regulations. these duties will also involve participation in an out of hours call out rota.

9) Observe at all times safe safe working practices and Health & Safety regulations as applicable to the workplace

10) attend as required training and development courses

11) Maintain work records

Requirements:

Proven technical knowledge and ability with extensive practical experience.

Minimum qualifications are a recognised apprenticeship resulting in City & Guilds or NVQ Certificates and an MOT Certificate would be disirable
