Opus Engineering are currently recruiting for a Quality & SafetyEngineer to work on a permanent basis at its client's site inKidderminster. Position: Quality & Safety EngineerLocation: Kidderminster Salary: 35,000.00 - 40,000.00Job Type: Permanent Reports To: Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental (QHSE)Manager Sector: Quality / Safety / Engineering / Automotive / Health &Safety General Description: The primary function of this role is to lead and coordinate the CE certification process providing technical guidance and support to the engineering and project management departments. Helping to produce technical files and completing safety risk assessments in line with the essential health and safety requirements (Machine Directives), and provide assurance that all products and systems are safe and legally compliant. Preparation and hand over of health and safety files and system documentation. In addition to also provide support and guidance on company QHSE Management Systems. Requirements of the Job: Experience in Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management. Recognised CQI or IRCA qualification in quality or equivalent. NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent. Experience in CE marking and compliance with EU Directives. Experience in Problem Solving techniques (e.g. 8D, Shainin, Taguchi, Six Sigma). Experience in automotive engineering industry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision. Valid Driving license & Passport Desirable. Lead Auditor Qualification. Experience as a technical author. NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety. Experience of CDM sites and associated documentation. Membership of a professional body or eligibility. CSCS card. Main Duties, Operational Tasks and Responsibilities: To ensure relevant EU Directives and harmonised standards are being adhered to enabling the CE marking of Systems and products designed, manufactured and installed. Have a working knowledge of European Directives, such as- Machine Directive, Low voltage, EMC & pressure equipment Directives. Undertaking machinery risk assessments, reviewing machine safety at each stage of the process from design, manufacture and installation. Developing and maintaining technical files relating to large scale Mechanical & Electrical projects. Support on Quality Assurance matters with suppliers and manufacturing. Support on QHSE matters in relation to customer requirements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of QHSE management systems. Conduct internal and external audits including, but not limited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Use 8Ds to ensure root cause investigations are carried out into any failure of Quality, Environmental or Safety systems for any reported incidents. To offer Health and Safety guidance to ensure employees, sub-contractors and visitors work in a safe environment. To carry out any other duties as reasonably required commensurate with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.
