To work as part of the Bid team producing high quality and professionally written content for prequalification and tender submissions. Taking part in the preparation and researching of submissions as directed. This role requires close working with the UK Projects Bid and Management team, this will involve working with operational personnel and Support Service teams to obtain information for bid inputs.

Key objectives

Support Bid Managers/Solution Leads as directed and produce high quality, well-structured written responses to Clients requirements and agreed company solutions.

  • Liaise and work closely with all members of the UK Projects Bid and Delivery teams and other areas of the business in developing and completing written responses for bids.

  • Communicate with appropriate Colas staff and external supply chain to obtain relevant information/details to allow written solutions to be developed and considered.

  • Provide appropriate inputs to prequalification and tender submissions as directed.

  • Re-work existing, pre-written content, where required.

  • Attend bid team meetings, solution development workshops, story boarding sessions and peer reviews.

  • Deliver support for the development and maintenance of internal bid processes as directed.

  • Challenge existing protocols and practices to continuously improve the bid process.

  • Post-bid, work with team to transform submissions into content for potential re-use.

  • Carry out all duties and responsibilities in a manner that supports the Company Vision and Mission and Values.

  • To carry out other appropriate duties as assigned by the line manager.
  • Ensure that all operations carried out within our area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for the safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself.
  • Assure all activities are undertaken with due regard for the environment, to prevent pollution, comply with legal and corporate requirements and minimise environmental impact.

  • Consider all issues and relevant information that is communicated when developing and completing written solutions.

  • Deliver written responses for prequalification and tender submissions against agreed deadlines, in accordance with deliverables, escalating issues as required.

  • Generate written responses that are completed to a high acceptable standard and are compliant, clear and customer focused.

  • Provide inputs to the lessons learnt process from involvement with previous submissions.

Person Specification

Qualifications and training

  • English and/or written degree level.

  • Member of a professional accredited body.

  • Training in the use of all Microsoft packages.

Technical skills and experience

  • Proven experience of producing and editing written content for prequalification and tender submissions.

  • Experience of working in a team, participating in storyboarding sessions and key review meetings.

  • Have a good understanding of Civil Engineering construction, operational and technical issues/considerations to allow the compilation of written solutions to support strategic bidding opportunities is desirable.

  • Knowledge of working with the highway and civil engineering clients or related industries would be desirable.
