Samuel Frank Associates has been asked to find a Junior PLC Control Engineer to join a very well established system integration business with a large presence in the West Midlands.

The successful Junior Control Engineer will either have successfully completed an apprenticeship have an Electrical & Electronic based qualification (HNC / Degree). Candidates with 1-3 years experience of project based PLC software writing and commissioning could be ideal for this role. The key to this position is attitude, approach and willingness to learn. If you have these traits in abundance and you have an Electrical / Electronic qualification then this position could be absolutely ideal for you.

Because of customer demands at peak periods this individual needs to be willing and able to work weekends and Bank Holidays when requested. Key shutdown periods are usually when school holidays take place and this is when all Engineers will be needed onsite. The client is also open to engineers working from home where the projects allow and once the Controls Engineer is up and running and fully trained.

The successful hire will be trained to write PLC code from a Functional Design Specification to a very high standard. Because of the nature of the clients’ business there will be periods of time where high number of hours per week will be expected so engineers used to working in a project based environment where missing a deadline is not an option will be favorably considered. The client pays overtime for permanent staff so there is a fantastic opportunity to earn a much higher gross salary.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to trained to commission hardware including the communication systems between variable speed drives, intelligent starters and other peripheral hardware using Ethernet, Modbus, CANopen, Interbus, Profibus etc.

The client’s West Midlands sites are commutable from Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Coventry, Redditch, Solihull, Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.
