PVT VRT Project Engineer
*Reporting to the PVT VRT Leader for Chassis, the PVT VFG Engineer will work, with a minimum of supervision, in all aspects of current car engineering.
*This regularly includes the resolution of engineering issues through data analysis and working with Manufacturing, CoC, suppliers, Product Investigation (Service) and dealers on quality containment solutions.
*Status of solution implementation will be reviewed regularly and is reported in PAWS.
*Supporting implementation of engineering changes will also be required.
*Contribution to the PVT Balanced Scorecard objectives CQI, JDP, AA, CPU, R/1000, TGW, QSF etc.,
*Take ownership of vehicle line quality metrics, identify and lead projects to resolution.
*Be responsible for a commodity and resolution of projects / issues.
*Lead cross functional teams in issue identification and resolution.
*Analysis of warranty data to identify and prioritise top issues and resolve customer concerns
*Identifying and implementing robust containment, root cause and permanent corrective action.
*Supporting the production team with the timely resolution of build issues,
*Project management of engineering changes including timing, line trials etc,
*Project issue definition to agreed Powertrain standard.
*Project resolution through use of 8D, 6 Sigma tool set.
*Support launch, activities as and when required and agreed by VRT leader
3 Key Skills:
1) Working knowledge of Chassis Systems, Brakes, Steering Wheels, tyres and suspension
2) Six Sigma project experience
3) Manufacturing process problem solving experience
*Applicants should be degree qualified, proactive and be able to demonstrate a good level of Chassis engineering knowledge/ experience
*A background in design and development would be useful along with a working knowledge of Chassis Systems, Brakes, Steering Wheels, tyres and suspension.
*A Good level of numeracy and possession of good organizational, administration and communication skills are important in this fast-moving role, where there is a need to communicate at high level to other areas of the business.
*Ability to use the AWS, PAWS and WERS system is also useful but training would be given.
*The role will also provide the candidate the opportunities to engage in hands on fault diagnosis on vehicles and systems as well as within the plant on manufacturing engineering issues.
*The candidate needs to be self-motivated, flexible with hours of work, overtime, travel between plants may also be required at times.
*Degree qualification in automotive engineering discipline / Or equivalent work-related experience / HNC / ONC Strong presentation skills
*40 Hours per week with 3:30pm finish on Fridays
