Advantage Biogas are established as one of the UK’s leading independent service providers within the AD industry, providing engineering and operational support services to plants across the UK and we are looking for a Mechanical Site Service Engineer to join our dedicated team.

Where you'll work

You will be based at our Anaerobic Digestion (AD) facility in Whitchurch, Shropshire, although travel to other sites may be required.

What you'll do

The role encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities including problem solving, testing of feedstocks and management of the samples sent for external analysis, in accordance with the testing schedule and site requirements. You'll be responsible for a range of daily operational and maintenance duties including the completion of daily, weekly and monthly routine site checks. There will be scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and we need someone who is practical, can think on their feet and adapt easily to rapidly changing situations. You'll also be responsible for completing daily paperwork ensuring the site remains compliant with our Environment Agency permit, this includes identifying and completing any required remedial works. Daily readings and reports will be required as well as monthly meter readings and completing all associated paper work.

You will need to be able to follow Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments and work closely with the Site Manager and Head Office creating new SSOW as required and reviewing them to ensure they reflect the way you work on site.

Other duties will include general house-keeping ensuring the plant remains clean and tidy, stock ordering and organising any required collections and services for the site as well as operation of the weighbridge and recording associated input and output data in accordance with our EA permit requirements.

The role will require you to be part of the on-call team and you'll work on a rota basis covering bank holidays, weekends and evenings.

About you

Whilst experience in the AD industry is not essential a knowledge of renewable energy and an agricultural engineering, mechanical and electrical background is preferred. You will need good IT skills and a full driving license. Feeding of our plant is done by telehandler and previous experience is required.
