We are a team of 200 staff based in the centre of Birmingham, just a few minutes walk from the main stations. As Heritage Award winners for the Waterstones restoration project we are known for local regeneration as well as for working on national and international projects. We are looking for a dedicated Water Engineer to join our Water Team working out of our Birmingham office.

The role will include working as a water engineer/ drainage designer on a range of projects across our varied portfolio including major highways, rail, environmental projects. The ideal candidate will be ready to manage their own projects and staff from bidding opportunities to delivering the complete project whilst also working as part of a team delivering larger projects.

This is a long-term career appointment with the opportunity to advance to a more senior position within Mott MacDonald.

The candidate will report directly to the Head of Water in the Birmingham office. The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer fantastic opportunities for your skill set and career development.

The focus of the role is Water Engineering; the key elements of the role include:

* Preparation of drainage scheme designs
* Modelling of drainage systems
* Appraisal and design of flood alleviation schemes
* Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments
* Design of hydraulic structures
* Design development using BiM Technology
* Negotiation and preparation of drainage consent applications
* Developing good, long term working relationships with the Environment Agency and local authorities

We are looking for an energetic and innovative candidate with a range of experience within the water sector.

The successful candidate will have the ability to:

* Prepare and deliver flood risk management appraisals and scheme designs
* Work with multi-disciplinary design teams across a wide variety of construction sectors
* Communicate professionally, effectively and clearly; both verbally and in writing
* Develop technical skills to stay up to date with the latest technical innovations
* Contribute to the water teams management and professional activities
* Experience with the use of InfoWorks (or ICM), ISIS, TuFlow, Civil 3D, GIS will be an advantage
