Based in Whitley

(The role is field based however core activity is around the Jaguar Land Rover facilities in the Midlands, with extensive travel in the UK (requiring long distance driving on a regular basis). Overseas travel at short notice is also INVOLVED.)


The Warranty Analysis Engineer will be responsible for both warranty analysis of returned parts and for witness testing, resulting in correct responsibility determination and root cause identification through the validation of supplier test standards and process implementation.

The Warranty Analysis Engineer will work within a cross-functional returned parts process supporting the COC (Centre of Competence) teams in driving to achieve accurate root cause determination and improved quality practices throughout the global supplier base, engineering functions and manufacturing facilities to improve quality and enable commercial recovery.

Using data analysis, the Warranty Analysis Engineer will identify trends, highlight current or emerging concerns on a worldwide basis, and help to drive robust containment and corrective actions as a priority through continual interactions with key cross functional teams. This will ultimately result in improved quality standards that drive greater levels of customer satisfaction and enable cost recovery by commercial departments.

The Warranty Analyst Engineer will deliver the above through managing their own time, activities, processes and procedures, and the resources of the department.

Candidate Responsibilities

  • Review the suppliers’ testing processes and procedures, their application and suitability to determine the failure modes on all components tested and determine the degree of responsibility
  • Develop improved supplier test parameters in conjunction with engineering and the supply base
  • Proactively support COC (Centre of Competence) teams to drive root cause analysis, containment and corrective activity
  • Proactively support engineering activities on warranty cost reduction programs
  • Monitor supplier testing results, advise on correct reject/detect failure mode and assure robust closure confirmation
  • Support PVT (Plant Vehicle Team) and other problem solving teams with data and information when required
  • Support ad-hoc investigations regarding product issues utilising all available data sources
  • Monitor warranty claims and movements of parts to return centres
  • Organise trapping of parts to support engineering and PVT teams in their investigation
  • Retrieve Cat 1, 2 and 3 reports to identify trends and highlight emerging issues
  • Review Service Actions, Technical Bulletins and supporting literature to aid investigations
  • Maintain a confident and decisive Quality presence within the supplier base and Jaguar Land Rover

Candidate Specifications

  • Previous experience within the automotive industry or dealer network is essential due to the nature of the work
  • Thorough all-round automotive knowledge and understanding at a component function level
  • Ideally experienced within supplier quality interface, production or quality engineering roles
  • A methodical approach to understanding although not necessarily resolving component issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately to all levels within Jaguar Land Rover and in the supplier base, both in writing and in person during meetings and supplier visits
  • Ability to work effectively and reliably as an individual and as part of a team in any situation with minimum supervision but maintaining high levels of accountability
  • Ability to negotiate at supplier level, sometimes in confrontational circumstances
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, which will be tested during the recruitment process
  • A flexible approach to working hours is essential
  • A willingness to travel extensively in UK and occasionally to European/worldwide suppliers is essential
  • Current driving licence and valid passport are essential due to nature of work

Working hours

  • Full-time (40 hours per week, prepared to work overtime where needed)
