Leading specialist manufacturer of ball and roller bearings - Technical expertise, design and production capacity to deliver engineering solutions. Developed a range of high performance Split Roller Bearings. Due to recent expansion we are looking for a Manufacturing Advancement Engineer to join the growing team - Reporting to the Production Manager

Day to day duties will include the following:
. To ensure that the manufacturing capacity we have committed to our customers is made available at the level and timing we committed to.
. To continually reduce the cost of making that capacity available.
. To support the growth objectives of the plant by providing competitive costings for new product requests and by introducing accepted new products on time and at target cost.
. To be a resource of lean expertise for the plant (including 5S activities) and to be a project lead resource for implementing any project supporting the execution of our Business Plan.
. To work with the manufacturing team to implement work instructions and 5S program.
. To assist inside sales associates to produce engineering quotations. Supply up to date accurate costing information.
As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
. To ensure plant and equipment is maintained in a reliable condition such that non-availability of our plant or equipment does not become a case of poor customer service.
. Responsible for the overall efficiency of the equipment is continually monitored in terms of throughput rate, scrap rates and breakdown (or machine availability).
. To make sure there is a continual improvement in the overall efficiency of our equipment.
. To make certain manufacturing processes are properly documented and there is a continual improvement in the quality of this documentation. Process documentation comprises: training manuals, maintenance manuals, part number specific parameters.
. To ensure that the manufacturing ERP system is maintained and updated with the correct costing information.
. To guarantee that fast responses are provided to sales engineers investigating the profitability of new products.
. To ensure there is a continual growth in the capability of the manufacturing team.

Type and length of work experience required for success on this job.
. 5-10 years Precision Engineering experience
. Experience must have given candidate the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the following competencies:
. Proven leadership of manufacturing improvements and lean implementation in a precision engineering environment. Emphasis on GRINDING knowledge.
. Proven project management experience of new machine/equipment development and effective implementation.
