Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to support the senior members of the team in the administration and progression of a varied corporate case portfolio of Insolvency matters including administrations, receiverships, liquidations, CVA’s and Personal insolvency cases, reporting to a line manager.


A wide variety of clients including banks, other financiers, accountants, solicitors and breweries.

Job Role

• Setting up new cases on IPS (Corporate recovery software) and preparing all relevant paperwork for new cases.

• Prepare routine correspondence and meet statutory filing deadlines.

• A full understanding of the IPS diary system and the importance of meeting deadlines.

• Dealing with initial notices to Registrar of Companies, court, advertisements and reports to creditors following appointment.

• Set up of creditors and debtors on IPS and maintaining creditors and debtor files with up to date control schedules, dealing with creditor queries and disputes.

• Agree routine preferential and non-preferential creditor claims and assist with issuing distributions to creditors.

• Prepare reports and notices for annual and final meetings, incorporating managers' comments on case specific issues.

• Take minutes of statutory meetings.

• Complete and submit post insolvency VAT and corporation tax returns.

• Assist senior members with retention of title claims.

• Control the collection of debts, dealing with routine disputes.

• Assisting in implementation of asset realisation strategy.

• Preparation of documents for cash-book receipts and payments. Review incoming invoices and arrange payment as necessary.

• Arrange for control and custody of company records.

• Complete the investigations into the company’s affairs and submit the relevant return to The Insolvency Service.

• Produce case reviews in accordance with the firm’s review procedure and provide feedback on the progress of each assignment to the partner.

• Drafting of statement of affairs and creditor reports, updating IPS and generally attending to compliance, dealing with creditor enquiries, maintaining company records.

• Manage the day to running of each assignment providing feedback on the progress of each assignment to the manager/partner and keep all other staff involved in the assignment fully informed of relevant developments.

• Be proactive in dealing with outstanding matters on the assignments.

Person Specification

• A graduate / trainee / CPI student

• Some experience in corporate insolvency is desirable although not necessary as full training will be provided.

• Proficient and competent in using MS Office.

• Self-sufficient, with the ability to plan and manage own caseload.

• Team worker.

• Good verbal communication skills, being able to confidently and articulately deal with all parties in what can sometimes be difficult situations.

• Good written communication and presentation skills including a high standard of letter writing.

• Organised and methodical with proven planning and prioritising skills.

• Able to produce high quality, detailed and accurate work.

• Able to work on own initiative to strict deadlines and under pressure.
