You will be a key driver of the product design process, creating accurate and detailed design specifications for multiple product categories across the business, a high proportion of which would be Cycle Clothing projects . You will drive the research and development of future trends & accelerate key market trends into deliverable product designs in line with the needs of the Trading teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise closely with buying teams on an ongoing basis to ensure the item meets the brief & suits the customer, market and price points & ensure the design calendar is aligned with category range review plans for the season.
  • Keeping up to date with emerging trends relating to fabrics, colours and shapes to design a mixture of core, premium and performance product & ensure ranges are always evolving.
  • Drive the research and development of seasonal trend and design presentations, including key products and colour palettes to produce artwork in conjunction with buyers brief.
  • Carry out regular customer, consumer and competitor behaviour reviews, sharing findings with the business and developing ranges accordingly.
  • Create seasonal mood boards reflecting the theme for the ranges you will be responsible for designing, colour palettes, key element boards and present them to the Buying team.
  • Attend trade shows and trend presentations for inspiration, design and development. Visit manufacturers & carry out inspirational shopping trips
  • Produce detailed briefs for agencies and suppliers
  • Lead and coordinate product development from concept to sample delivery, working closely with category teams & supply base in the UK and FE.
  • Source & select fabrics, colours, trims, fastenings and embellishments
  • Create final range sketches using Photoshop & Illustrator & present back to category teams.
  • Maintain a clear focus on specific brand handwriting for individual projects.
  • Ensure range is customer focused and meets price structure requirements where required (Good, Better, Best)
  • Drive forward product quality together with QC team.

Key Skills/Experience
  • Relevant experience within a design environment.
  • Excellent communicator & presenter.
  • Demonstrates track record of accountability and creative skills.
  • Knowledge of cycling market & athleisure trends preferable
  • Degree in fashion, design, fashion technology, textiles, fabric design or related subjects preferable.
  • Technical experience of developing clothing ranges essential.
  • Able to influence successfully across diverse audience.
  • Plan and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to use Creative Suite (CS6) namely Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Successfully manages numerous projects at any one time, with great organisational, skills,
  • Attend trade fairs and undertake store visits to stay up to date on the latest design trends, processes, materials and competitive landscape and communicate opportunities.
  • Work with suppliers, other designers or team members to create designs & oversee the final production of their designs
  • Work across team boundaries to develop best design practice in Category / QA / Suppliers and ensure continual improvement in process and product design innovation.
  • Oral and written communication, computer proficiency, creativity, artistic ability, excellent decision making, detail orientated
