Hours of work:

37 hours per week - Monday – Friday - 9am – 5pm – some evening and weekend work may be required at times

Holidays:

25 days annual leave pro rata

Based in:

Dudley and Sandwell (with travel across West Midlands)

Fixed term contract until October 2019

The BRIDGES project is funded through Big Lottery Fund and the European Union through the European Social Fund. All hours will be worked on the BBO Bridges project.

Overview Building Better Opportunities is an exciting new multi-million pound programme tackling poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England. Summit House has been selected as a delivery partner by Steps to Work and will be providing employment support for the over 24s across Dudley and Sandwell.

The BBO Project Worker is a hands on role that will co-ordinate the programme on a day to day basis; engaging with local people and developing referral pathways. The Big Lottery Fund and the European Union through the ESF are the funders of the post.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on the successful candidate; any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance.

Summit Support actively encourages the use of public transport and Brindley House is located a short walk from the Dudley transport hub; however as this post requires travel we appreciate that drivers may find it easier to use their car.Please note that Summit would require anyone using their car for work to holdup-to-date business class 1 insurance cover, a current driving licence for the type of vehicle being driven, and where legally required a valid MOT certificate for the vehicle

Main Duties
  • Work closely with the BBO team to ensure service delivery is conducted in a professional manner in line with current policies, procedures and related strategic documents
  • Outreach to recruit clients for the programme through networking with local agencies, delivering presentations in the community and engaging directly with local people who fit the project criteria
  • Provide one to one support to vulnerable clients with a range of barriers including: mental & physical health problems, learning difficulties and disabilities, gender identity issues and the long term unemployed
  • Ensure each client receives an initial baseline assessment and ongoing reviews
  • Complete sign up and on-going project paperwork accurately with close attention to detail
  • Complete risk assessments on clients as part of the sign-up process
  • Input client details directly onto the project database accurately and efficiently
  • Design, co-ordinate and deliver personal and professional development activities to support clients towards the labour market
  • Plan and deliver employability skills training workshops to clients which include: CV building, interview preparation and support with job searching and application
  • Undertake marketing and promotion for the project including utilising social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter etc.
  • Compile data and producing operational reports in a timely and professional manner
  • Attend and/or arrange strategic and/or operational meetings as necessary
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of appropriate legislation
  • Liaise/network with local services and other agencies to create and/or maintain referral pathways
  • Source and secure professional development outcomes for clients including: personal development activities, employment, training, education and volunteering
  • Develop relationships with existing or potential partners
  • Work to reach/exceed recruitment and outcomes targets set out in the BBO Service Level Agreement between Summit Support and lead partner Steps to Work
  • When directed by a manager, undertake any other task appropriate to the skills and responsibilities of a Project Worker

  • Unsociable hours/weekend working may be required at times
