Main Duties and Responsibilities (to be confirmed)

Support for the School
• Assist the SBM in the operation of academy finances, ensuring full reconciliations and audits are undertaken in accordance with regulations
• Preparation of invoices for collection of income from lettings and other dues
• Carry out regular benchmarking against similar schools for comparative performance data
• Maintaining accounts for individual school clubs and visits
• Assisting SBM with budget forecasting and advising the Head Teacher
• Undertake a wide range of complex documentation using a variety of packages such as word, power point, excel, access, SAGE & BPS
• Advise Department Heads on Budgets & give regular updates on financial positions
• Be aware of, comply and assist in the development of policies and procedures, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
• Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities
• Ensure that the school complies with annual Data Protection registration and any other compulsory licences as required
• Assist with the completion of school risk assessments
• To keep on hand the elements of legal documents required to be held in the school office, and ensure that they are kept up to date. e.g. Financial Management documentation, Audit Documents required

• Oversee the ordering, processing and payment for all goods and services
• Monitor and evaluate value for money on day-to-day expenditure on buildings-related services
• Support SLT to ensure that information sharing and data protection guidelines are robustly followed
• Delivering objectives in an effective way, minimising waste

• To be fully conversant in the finance system, ensuring its efficient operation according to agreed procedures including regular monitoring
• For contract work and bought in services, ensure that 3 quotes and tenders are obtained for orders over the value of £1000 and retained to comply with Financial Regulations and demonstrate Best Value
• Ensure the school is operating as resourcefully as possible, by investigating areas within school budget, where financial efficiencies can be made
• Maintaining School Fund accounts
• Administer and prepare papers for all EAB meeting
• Process and monitor monthly payroll reports & report on variations

Annual/Monthly Accounts
• Preparing month end statements and reconciliation in preparation for monthly reports to SBM & financial year end
• Liaise with Trust financial team to ensure all accruals/prepayments are actioned by the year end
• Ensure all non –receipted orders are investigated at the end of each month

Budget Setting and Monitoring
• Attend meetings with SBM/Head Teacher To obtain agreement of budgets for the school on an annual basis
• To monitor all school accounts and determine variances in budget v actual for income and expenditure and advise SBM
• To assist with costing’s on areas of budget expenditure to aid financial planning
• Determine and eliminate invalid code postings, incorrect code postings, so that information is accurate
• Assist with annual and five yearly budget setting

• Liaise with auditors
• To advise the SBM/Head Teacher/EAB on matters of financial policy and assist in the long term financial strategy for the development of the school
• Ensure information, both internal and external, is current and in a format that can be accurately and swiftly queried by all stakeholders
• Internal: Liaising with any staff and students across the school. Responding to enquiries, sharing information, referring information to the relevant people
• External: Parents/carers, the LA and other agencies voluntary, community and organisations. Contacts with outside organisations will include dealing with enquiries and giving and collecting information
• Support and advise school staff on any aspect of finance

Deal with a high degree of complexity particularly in understanding and finding solutions to highly complex problems. The post holder will be able to refer to the SBM/Head Teacher in order to find solutions to highly complex problems but mostly will be expected to mainly work without supervision.
