The overall job role will cover all aspects of running and managing our autophoretic and surface finishing processes.

Listed below is a brief summary of the work involved, although this may change from time to time:

1. Be the process champion for autophorectic and surface coating within ABT;

2. Carry out daily testing on the autophoretic chemical baths to maintain the chemistry within agreed parameters to ensure good paint adhesion and conformity to customer standards;

3. Conducting root cause analysis for surface coating issues, and once established, putting in place effective and long lasting preventative measures to stop reoccurrence;

4. Monitor, manage and champion regular bath cleaning schedules to ensure conforming product;

5. Carry out, monitor and report on the quality of our paint processes (product paint thickness, salt spray testing, daily samples, gloss levels etc.), ensuring records are maintained and actions dealt with in a timely manner;

6. Manage our effluent plant (including interfacing with local authorities), and where required, its upgrade;

7. Liaise with our paint and chemical suppliers for process amendments and improvements;

8. Report and advise on the cost effective procurement of parts and materials;

9. Train operators to effectively carry out basic testing operations and tank maintenance ;

10. Maintain an effective "to do" list to ensure that safety critical items are given priority.

11. Create a preventative maintenance program to help avoid downtime and subsequent costs.

12. Ownership of all aspects of Health and Safety in the process including the storing and handling of chemicals


It is expected that the successful applicant will possess the majority of the following skills, experiences and requirements:-

1. Background in chemistry and plant maintenance (a forklift licence would be useful).

2. Have a positive, enthusiastic and committed attitude and approach to work.

3. Be physically fit and historically have lost little time from work.

4. Have a full clean car driving licence.

5. Be logical, tidy, clear thinking, reliable and punctual.

6. Be prepared to work modified hours to meet the demands of the business and our customers.

7. Have the ability to carry out tasks with minimum supervision and manage a small team
