In 2015 Village Aid merged with United Purpose based in Cardiff. Village Aid is the Peak District's international development charity. For the past 25 years, Village Aid has been supporting communities in West Africa to define their own route out of poverty. In addition to this, Village Aid works with individuals, community groups, businesses, schools and universities across the Peak District to engage local people in global issues. You will primarily be working on behalf of Village Aid although you will be part of the United Purpose External Affairs team, and sometimes working on wider United Purpose projects. Reports to: Fundraising and Development Manager Hours: Part time, 28 hours per week Salary: GBP22,670 - GBP27,080 pa (Pro-rata) Contract: Permanent Location: Bakewell; regular travel to UP office in Cardiff Key responsibilities Responsible for meeting and growing Village Aid and United Purpose net income targets Developing and implementing a robust fundraising strategy for securing large gifts from individuals, corporates and grant-making trusts Managing relationships with current major donors, identifying new major giving prospects and implementing effective donor cultivation plans Responsible for excellent stewardship for individual supporters, developing personalised supporter development plans and delivering these via telephone, mail, email and face to face meetings Leading on the account management of existing corporate partners to ensure continued support Identify local, regional and national opportunities to develop an active pipeline and secure income and support from corporates to achieve new business targets Designing tailored cases for support and proposals to inspire and promote new business opportunities Management of the regular giving acquisition campaign Designing and delivering a new annual legacy and in-memoriam fundraising campaign You will play a key part in our carbon credit sales business, being the key representative for sales in England, with a focus on local business in Bakewell and the Peak District Be an ambassador for Village Aid in the community, working with colleagues and volunteers to unlock new opportunities Regular reporting against expenditure, budgets, activity and performance against target Person specification Full driving licence and have transport readily available Educated to degree level or equivalent or experience in an appropriate field Significant experience of working in a relationship fundraising role covering as many different fundraising strands as possible Able to demonstrate a creative, innovative approach to fundraising in order to develop new income streams and diversify the fundraising mix within a small team A track record in securing large donations and grants from corporates, individuals, and/or trusts and foundations Have demonstrable experience in prospect research, production of proposals/pitches, relationship management and reporting A strong relationship manager able to influence key stakeholders Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including presentations) Confident and persuasive, with a flair for creating inspiring proposals and pitches Experience of brokering relationships at every level - internally and externally, with experience of dealing with high value donors Proven experience of giving donors and funders outstanding customer care Energetic and creative in the way you approach donors Knowledge of development, international affairs and environmental sustainability issues An ability to build strong relationships as part of a geographically dispersed team Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases A willingness to travel (with occasional overnight stays and evening/weekend work) is also essential How to apply To apply for this role please send your CV, our Equal Opportunities form (voluntary), a short covering letter (no more than two sides of A4) and the names of two references (one must be your most recent employer) by 26th March 2018 quoting 'Regional Fundraising Manager' in the subject.
