The Accounts Department Manager is a critical member of the Accounting Department and is responsible for managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable function within the organisation. You will supervise, monitor and evaluate all day-to-day accounting activities and will establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analysing, verifying and reporting financial information.

Key duties will include;

  • Manage and supervise the daily processes of invoicing, accounts receivables, cash receipts, general ledger postings as required, capital assets reconciliations, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
  • Take ownership of the credit control function, monitoring overdue debtors including escalations as appropriate.
  • Reconcile the company's main bank account daily.
  • Attend to daily credit limit/on hold queries from the sales office.
  • Ensure adequate controls are in place and are regularly performed with due diligence
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the completion of monthly management accounts and annual audit.
  • Supervision of Global IRIS, PayPal and Amazon bank control account reconciliations.

  • Reconcile the Debtors Control account, Creditors Control account and Stock nominal account monthly.

  • Oversee the accounts receivable function and cover this position when the Senior Accounts Assistant is on holiday leave.
  • Oversee the accounts payable payment runs before sign-off to Finance Manager.
  • Ensure that all accounts payables requiring sign off are given to an authorising manager in accordance with delegation policy, are expensed from the correct general ledgers, expensed in appropriate months and are paid in accordance with the terms of payment stated on the compliant tax invoice.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Ensure all accounting policies, systems and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all CRM cases assigned to the department are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Supervision of customer rebates - sign off required by the Finance Manager
  • Overall responsibility of accounts staff during periods of absence from the Finance Manager.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with monitoring Key Performance Indicators for the Accounts department.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with people management within your department, including recruitment, training, coaching and performance and conducting regular reviews and annual appraisals for staff.
  • Assisting department Senior Manager with all Health & Safety related matters within the department in accordance with the company's policies and procedures and current legislation.]

The ideal candidate will have;

  • Management experience of small accounts teams is vital.
  • Proven high volume bank and nominal account reconciliation experience
  • Experience in month end and year end procedures
  • Sage 200 experience an advantage
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Ability to deal with large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to direct and supervise
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Highly numerate and logical
  • Highly trustworthy and honest
