Your new company

My client are a highly successful specialist logistics and distribution business with a UK wide network and form part of a large global group. Based out of their Head Office in Stoke on Trent, they are now looking to hire an experienced HR Advisor to offer an advisory service to the operations arm of the business.

Your new role

Reporting into the HR Manager, you will be responsible for the provision of a dedicated HR advice service to the Operations function (Warehousing and Distribution) taking responsibility for a high volume HR case load and to operate as the first point of contact for managers and, where relevant, employees within this business area.

You will promote a positive employee relations culture whilst supporting the wider HR function in the design, development and implementation of proactive HR initiatives, change programmes and projects, and representing the local HR requirements of the Operations function. As HR Advisor you will identify opportunities for continuous development and learning from casework - for managers, HR and the wider business and Identify opportunities for improving employee engagement and support with / participate in local initiatives within Operations

You will work in support of the wider HR Team with regard to recruitment activities for operational and mid management vacancies, principally within Operations but occasionally for other departments and support with the delivery of training and development programmes and initiatives, as directed by the HRD. This will include the delivery of Values workshops.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have an extensive HR generalist skill set gained preferably in a commercial, operations function with logistics, manufacturing or other closely aligned sectors.

You will preferably be CIPD qualified or working towards a related qualification with good knowledge of all areas of HR policy, process and their practical application and experience of coaching managers in the investigation and resolution of HR case work.

You will have previous experience of proactively managing sickness absence, have a good understanding of commercial issues within own defined business area and demonstrate good listening and questioning skills. There will be development and support from the wider HR team to manage more complex employee relations cases and you must have some flexibility to travel and work from other sites with occasional overnight stays.

What you'll get in return

The role attracts a salary of cGBP23,000-GBP25,000 dependant on experience plus an excellent benefits package and excellent career development opportunities. You will be required to work shifts ranging from 8-4 through to 10-6 to ensure coverage across the shift patterns worked in the operations.
