Business Development Manager (BDM)

This is a Field Sales Position covering Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Forest of Dean - OTE c£45,000 +

The role of Business Development Manager (BDM) is a varied and rewarding Field Sales position. The key objectives are to achieve sales and margin targets for a defined geographic territory, open profitable new accounts and build strong relationships with existing customers through the business development.

The successful candidate will have a food service background. Applicants will be considered from any sales background so long as it is from within the food service industry or there is demonstrable sales experience and a food service background within the CV.

Applicants must:
• Have a full driving licence
• Be energetic and self-motivated and confident presenters
• Must have good food industry knowledge – Food Service, Food Goods Retail Sales or similar
• Able to build strong foundations with customers ensuring they can provide great Customer Service

Role details:
Responsibilities of the role are:
• To achieve sales and margin targets.
• Win and retain profitable new business.
• Grow and further develop existing customer numbers.
• Manage your territory, diary and call cycles.
• Identify category gaps, complete all sales documentation, with a good level of detail and in a punctual manner.
• Work with other internal teams and suppliers to maximise opportunities.
• Gain a full understanding of sales and margin performance vs targets.

The Geographic sales area is Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Forest of Dean: Applicants must be living on ‘patch’ to be considered.

Basic Salary: c£28,000 - £30,000, negotiable dependant on relevance of experience. (Please note if you are currently in sales within the food service industry on a higher basic please talk to me so we can talk to the employer)

Bonus: As this is a dual role position (split between account management and new business) bonuses can be achieved on two levels: For example:-
• Existing customer growth quarterly bonus.
• New, retained accounts, (based on GP), monthly bonus
• Annual bonus of £2,500 at Christmas.
• It is possible to earn an additional £11,000 + per annum

The position comes with a company car, mobile phone and laptop.

Other: 25 days holiday + statutory bank holidays
Hours:- Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week, some flexibility may be required
