Our client, a rural Staffordshire based Local Authority, are currently looking for a Housing Options Officer for an initial 3 month temporary contact (likely to be extended)

About you

This role requires you to conduct initial assessments on homeless clients which must be carried out in a professional manner; anyone being considered for the position must be compassionate and understanding to gain the greatest understanding of their position to make the most informed decision for their state of homelessness.

About the role

Assessing homeless applications within Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 including cases for acceptance, refusal or referral to other authorities will be the primary function of the role. This will be achieved through effective interviewing and completing housing needs assessments and trying to pre-empt this by exploring all options to prevent homelessness. It is essential you have an up to date knowledge of legislation, case law, best practice and council policies and procedures and initiatives
