HR Adviser - Case Management/Gaydon, Coventry, West Midlands/6 months Contract/190 to 260 GBP (Per Day)

The Opportunity

Provide a dedicated case management advisory service to line managers, specifically in relation to all matters arising leading up to and including the YE 2017/18 Performance Management process.

This includes, but not limited to -

  • Providing focussed coaching to line managers from the initial stage of performance management through to the final outcome which is up to and including dismissal (Informal and Formal Process)
  • Obtaining a detailed understanding of each case and apply sound judgement, including appropriate risk analysis, when making recommendations on appropriate next steps
  • Supporting the line manager on creating PIP objectives, ensuring they are robust, clear and measurable
  • Providing support and guidance to the line manager when dealing with more complex issues related to performance management, including sickness and grievance
  • Being the dedicated point of contact for all line managers in relation to ad hoc queries
  • Weekly follow ups with the line managers to ensure progress is being made with each case
  • Supporting the line manager with any queries from the employee or union reps, specifically in relation to queries following any performance meeting
  • Ensuring there is appropriate evidence to support any performance related sanction up to and including dismissal
  • Reviewing all case related documentation provided by the line manager (notes, PIP feedback and updates, outcome letters) to ensure the appropriate level of detail is achieved in the right way
  • Ensuring an effective operational support for employee grievances and appeals in all performance cases
  • Escalating, in a timely manner, all complex cases
  • Tracking all cases and their progress, providing weekly status updates

Key Performance Indicators

  • All cases closed with appropriate outcomes within 6 months
  • Clear next steps for cases that are deemed not able to return to full performance
  • Effective management of cases
  • Participation in Process improvements as required
  • Weekly reporting metrics

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Deliver a HR customer service focused on the resolution cases
  • Maintain and build effective relationships with the wider HR community and the business ie CoE, Shared Delivery HR, Business HR and customer base
  • Work effectively as part of the case management team
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Strong employment law knowledge with the ability to translate and provide commercial case related advice
  • Previous experience of supporting performance management and grievance cases, including complex cases
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to deliver results consistently in a fast paced HR environment


  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excel and reporting skills
  • CIPD/professional accreditation

  • Gaydon, Warwickshire - some minor travel to local sites (including Whitley, Coventry)
