Due to the new partnership between Birmingham City Council and Hays, we are now looking to recruit x4 Homeless Officers for the Birmingham city centre and surrounding areas. Your new role

As a Homeless Officer you will be working in our Birmingham City Centre offices in the housing department from Monday - Friday each week. Your role will entail the delivering of housing options to homeless individuals, whilst providing full support and duty to each applicant to assess their homeless circumstance. Lots of liaison with other departments will be necessary to ensure all candidates are fully vetted from beginning to end. Your position will include the compiling of enough proof of the necessary documents to assist in the provision of temporary accommodation to prospect applicants and to decide upon who is eligible. You will receive 2 weeks paid training for this role to ensure your knowledge is in alignment to the new restructure/pilot. This a temporary contract due to start ASAP for 3 months, with the possibility to extend further into the year for the right candidate.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate MUST have homeless legislation knowledge and come from a homeless or housing background. You will be familiar with rough sleepers and the Homelessness reduction act. Customer service is a crucial asset to this role as your role will involve communicating with people of all walks of life and those which come from difficult circumstances so attentive listening is a skill you will need. If you have previously worked with vulnerable adults this will be beneficial. Candidates of a reliable, flexible and efficient work ethic will be highly considered.
