Environmental Consultant - Remediation

Project Management
Management of specific projects under supervision of the management team, including cost appraisal and where appropriate support on additional projects, whether in the absence of colleagues or as part of a team.
Responsible for project-driven invoicing, ensuring accuracy and completeness, reviewed & issued in a timely manner.
Responsible for financial control of allocated projects including issuing of purchase orders, management of contractors/sub-contractors and ensuring sufficient insurances are held by sub-contractors.
Responsible for procurement and management of subcontractors, as requested by relevant project manager and in liaison with Contracts Manager.
Responsible for pro-actively chasing payment on outstanding and overdue invoices with project clients.
Pro-active client management, maintaining good communication throughout the lifecycle of project, being aware of the Client's needs and providing regular progress reports and confirming any variances as they arise.
Accountable for management and performance of projects and continued delivery of a high quality service, providing clear, commercially focused solutions.

Technical Skills
Undertake all aspects of fieldwork as necessary, including the gathering of all necessary data for site investigations
Review of technical reports, letters, purchase orders, proposals and general correspondence prepared by others, prior to submission to management for formal review.

Quality Assurance and Environmental Management
Ensure that all technical reports, client correspondence, purchase orders, proposals and cost information are reviewed by your line manager or a Director.
Undertake all works in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems, including the quality and environmental management and procedural manuals.
Undertake fieldwork in accordance with procedures / Standard Operating Procedures, as necessary, including the gathering of all necessary data for site investigations.

Health. Safety and Environment
All Employees must:
Work in a safe manner and observe the company’s health, safety and environment rules and procedures as well as any site rules and procedures.
Ensure adequate completion of workplace risk assessments.
Ensure subcontractors provide method statements and H&S risk assessments prior to any works and that these procedures are followed throughout the works.
Ensure that any machinery is operated in-accordance with a risk assessment and method statement for safe working practice for the specific task on site.
Report any hazard they observe promptly to their immediate supervisor.
Use protective clothing and equipment provided as required.
Report to their Line manager any incident that could have led to an injury.
Report to their Line Manager any injuries that happen at work, on the shift that the injury occurred, and obtain the necessary first aid treatment.
Help in the investigation of accidents in order to prevent occurrence.
Set an example of safe behaviour, particularly to new starters and young employees.

Business Development
Pro-active development of business opportunities with current active-project clients, progressing prospects on currently active sites and maintaining contact with clients for further opportunities.
Preparation of project descriptions and collection of appropriate marketing photographs for projects managed.
Consideration to the development of further company capabilities, including marketing opportunities and business development.

Commercial Management
Demonstrate an understanding of commercial risk issues present in work area.
Demonstrate commercial awareness in need to save project costs wherever possible.

Be an associate/member of appropriate professional body, maintaining necessary CPD requirements for chartership.

Ensure work quantity is timely, efficient and consistent with established standards, maintaining high utilisation and billable time, keeping peers and managers informed of availability.

Maintain effective written and verbal communication with subordinates, peers, management, subcontractors and client contacts.

General Office / Field Duties
Work will be undertaken in the office and on remote field sites as required.
Recording of all necessary documentation on provided forms, including timely completion of expense accounts and weekly completion of timesheets.
Provision of general support to colleagues and complete additional exceptional tasks as directed.
Routine care, maintenance and calibration of all field equipment, including vehicles.
Undertake general office duties including phone answering, copying, etc.
