Sales & Operations Director/General Manager – Aerospace/Automotive

The Client:

A prestigious global manufacturing business with an envious engineering pedigree. The UK has shown considerable growth in the last few years with more investment expected in each of the next three years. Overall, this market leader has grown both organically and by acquisition, using the latter to strengthen their overall offering to the market. You will not be disappointed by the scope of the opportunity on offer.

The Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for a staff of around sixty-five and a senior management team of around five/six to include Sales, Operations, Finance, Quality and Production. Initially, you will set the standards and culture that you expect to be conducive with hard work and achievement. This role will suit a strong leader of people who fits with the ‘coaching/supporting’ style of leadership. Most members of staff have been in place for over ten years but they need a visionary who can help them buy-in to the future vision of what can be achieved through their already successful business.

This is a hands-on role where you will also pick up sales responsibility for some key accounts which will include major organisations within Aerospace and Automotive. You will also be expected to conduct joint calls with your field sales team in order to provide live feedback as to how they can improve their performance.

The Person:

It is likely that you have performed a senior leadership role (GM/MD) within an engineering/shop floor environment. It’s important that you are a strong leader who has proven experience in developing staff/departments towards a common goal. There is a sales focus to this role so you should also have considerable face-to-face customer experience. A mechanical/production engineering qualification would be beneficial.

The Rewards:

A basic salary of £80 – 100,000 is on offer along with a realistic bonus scheme which will add around 25 – 30% of your salary to your overall package. A full benefits package is included along with a company car (Mercedes E-Class/Audi A6/A8).
