Quality Manager - Highways

Location: Birmingham

Kier Strategic Highways are looking to recruit a Quality Manager to join the team on the Area 9 contract.

Job Purpose:

To manage and oversee the ISO accredited integrated management systems, with particular focus on ongoing audit, review and updating of the Quality, Collaborative Business Relationships and Asset Management Systems.

Compliance Audits

* To ensure compliance against the contract through the implementation of a full contractual audit programme: internal, external and client.
* To effectively manage the output of audits.
* To manage the external audit programme of client and accrediting body audits.
Management of Nonconformities

* To proactively manage the identification, recording, action planning, closure and reporting of nonconformities in the provision of the service.
Management of contract compliance and contractual changes

* To ensure that any contractual changes are reviewed, assessed and implemented, including updating of the relevant systems documents as appropriate.

Quality Management:

* Ensure IMS is compliant with relevant ISO standards, including process reviews, auditing, and proactive management of nonconformities and corrective actions
* Collate and manage Quality and performance data and use to identify areas for improvement.
* Act as the nominated 'Quality Manager' under the terms of the Area 9 ASC contract, providing a first point of contact for the client for the management of quality and compliance.
* Analyse the root cause of defects and nonconformities, implement corrective action and update Processes with lessons learned
* Promote a 'right first time' culture by ensuring all Processes include mistake-proofing opportunities.
* Undertake training and mentoring of all relevant personnel to ensure full understanding of the IMS and promote the concept of continuous improvement through system development.
* Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with the general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Company Safety, Health and Environmental Management System.

* Support the Senior Management Team in the operation of the Area 9 Delivery Community including systems documentation, workshop support and any Community initiatives requiring input.
Key Skills and Qualifications:

* ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 management systems experience
* ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualified (minimum)
* Experience of working collaboratively within the highways industry
* Good leadership, people management and development skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a wide range of audiences
* Self-motivated and enthusiastic
* Excellent IT skills, preferably including system use and development

* Understanding of BS1100/ISO44001 Collaborative Business Relationships and PAS55/ISO55001 Asset Management
