The Medical Liaison Scientists play a vital role in initiating and maintaining an exchange of scientific information on a peer to peer basis with Clinical Thought Leaders. They are a technical and clinical expert on product, disease area and competitors. The Medical Liaison Scientist provides expert support to internal customers and external healthcare professionals, in a defined geographic area of the UK.
As MSL you will implement the medical plan at the local level.
Scientific exchange with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) - Develop and sustain long-term scientific relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs). Exchange complex scientific information with HCPs, Identify topics of interests among HCPs and organize local medical peer-to-peer meetings
Field link for clinical trials and Managed access programs -Oversee clinical studies and Managed access programs and support HCPs needsProvide feedback on ongoing studies and Managed access programs to HQ
Internal scientific support - Collaborate to the development of the Medical Plan and implement the local action plan. Participate to sales force training and support sales force with scientific information.
Fully understand and be compliant with company SOPs and the latest ABPI Code of Practice and code cases relevant to the role.
Perform all the above in an ethical and legally compliant manner.
Advanced degree in life sciences (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, MS) and/or prior experience as a MSL
Knowledge of clinical medicine, disease management, and medical research in at least one therapeutic area, oncology preferred
Understanding of statistical methods and clinical process
Preferably familiar with local health-political laws and regulations
English: fluent level
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in life sciences, preferably in oncology including significant time in a customer-facing role
Preferably experience of interacting with HCPs on a peer-to-peer basis
Preferably with an industry experience in a matrix organization
Interpersonal skills with ability to create and sustain credible relationships with HCPs
Ability to understand HCPs needs and to convey emergent scientific information
Ability to work in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders, and in particular with Commercial, Marketing and Medical Affairs teams and with other in-field personnel
Ability to communicate formally and informally with both clinical/scientific and administrative stakeholders in treatment centers and other healthcare organizations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to give lectures and trainings on medical-science topics to groups of varying sizes
Understanding of the hospital environment and healthcare system, as well as an understanding of clinical processes (e.g. trial design, study implementation)
Ability to work independently in the field, manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to design and moderate medical meetings to facilitate peer-to-peer discussions
Ability to produce and deliver high quality PowerPoint presentations
Have high ethical standards and recognized personal integrity
Willing to travel with overnight stays
