Embedded Firmware Engineer, Solihull, 40,000 - 50,000

Following the commercial success our clients products and immense growth on the back of it, we are now looking to add another low-level Embedded Firmware Engineer to join a talented RnD team and be a part of something special.

The core team consists of a number of highly skilled engineers and due to the investment in the company, you will have access to the very best tools and equipment you need to do your job in an environment that would suit anybody.

Your core responsibilities will be to develop, diagnose and maintain the products at the system level, with a primary responsibility for firmware and a secondary responsibility for electronics. All firmware is written in C or C++ on microcontrollers and developed in a Linux environment, but you will not be writing Linux drivers!

The company's products are used for mission critical and high availability applications. You will be responsible for ensuring that your contributions comply with the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Your role will encompass the understanding of customer requirements and developing specifications in conjunction with the hardware team prior to the start of a new project; developing firmware for microprocessors; designing and creating test jigs; developing related applications for the PC platform.

Key Skills
-Embedded C programming on microcontrollers
-Broad knowledge of using the Linux platform
-C++ PC based programming predominantly for support
-Understanding of electronics commensurate with low-level work (transistor logic, voltage regulators, EMC, etc.)
-A degree in electronic engineering or other numerate discipline.

-Qt and Boost C++ libraries.
-Knowledge of the Eagle software package.

The ideal candidate will meet deadlines and communicate successfully with internal and external customers. The candidate should have good English and communication skills. Be willing to provide customer support where necessary, at short notice and potentially at customer premises.
