Working hours are Mon-Fri 8.00-17.00 (must be flexible in working hours to meet demands of the business, requiring some weekend working with time off in lieu)

Our client, a successful small to medium sized business with over 25 years' experience in the construction industry has a requirement for a results driven Storeman to join their small team.

This role will involve streamlining warehouse processes and managing day to day operations and requires an organised, enthusiastic forward thinking person who knows how to get results, enjoys a challenge and at the same time takes pride and fosters a positive work environment.

The Storeman will work closely with all members of staff, in particular contracts, sub contract teams & external logistics.

Role responsibilities

Material planning, packing and delivery:

Co-ordination with the contracts team to plan forthcoming project requirements, planning and packing

materials in readiness for despatch complete with all necessary administration requirements.

Have a full in depth knowledge of the products supplied (Training provided)

Booking of transport just in time and relative to site and project specifics.

Constant review of material & delivery requirements, subject to change and short notice.

Effective planning and stock control:

Daily updating of stock within the warehouse, stock level monitoring and re ordering to minimum stock

levels, just in time & subject to demand.

Administer stock control spreadsheet ensuring its accuracy.

Co-ordinate supply chain with finance manager.

Preparing Purchase Orders when ordering stock.

Organising stock so it is easily accessible and safe for those working in the warehouse.

Take part in the quarterly and end of year stock take.

Controlling costs and spending.

Co-ordinate supply chain with finance manager, sourcing stock for the best price, quality and lead

time to do the job.

Transportation utilised in the most cost efficient manner to fulfil daily demands and requirements.

Accepting deliveries and shipping of goods:

Ensuring there are no damages and that everything ordered is present and accounted for.

Received goods stored in an effective and efficient order.

Organise the despatching of goods and products ensuring it is suitably packaged and that the

delivery service is suitable for any time constraints.

Preparing packing notes when despatching goods.

Stock rotation and re-organisation to suit material movement.

Safety and security:

Ensuring adequate security systems are in place.

Review and revise risk assessments and Health & Safety procedures for the various roles as

necessary with regular review with directors, using external Citation Plc

Enforce Health and safety rules.

Health and safety and welfare training of warehouse operatives in their daily duties.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have proven warehouse, stores & logistics experience.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and meet set deadlines, at times at short notice.
  • Be able to work under pressure at short notice when the role demands.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Hold a forklift truck licence
  • Hold full UK Driving License
  • Computer literacy essential
