We are looking for a Web Developer to maintain and develop corporate and brand websites. Reporting to the Marketing Manager we are looking for someone who can provide technical leadership and advice on best practices for website related matters, while keeping up to date on the latest developments and suggest improvements to streamline business operations.

Key Duties:

  • Building websites to coding standards ready for testing and launch of all new updates across multiple platforms to reach 80% of viewership
  • On-going maintenance and improvements of website
  • Security of data e.g. via SQL injection threats
  • Creation, improvements and maintenance of MySQL database architecture
  • Excellent coding standards to W3C

To be suitable for this role you will need:

  • Experience with PHP v 5.5+ programming (procedural)
  • Proven programming expertise in PHP frameworks (current website framework is CodeIgniter), Laravel, Symfony and strictly follows the MVC (Model-View-Controller) protocol
  • Experience in GitHub version control
  • Front end coding utilising HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and JQuery to deliver pixel perfect HTML, with a strong understanding of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) and JavaScript libraries
  • Strong understanding of WordPress and knowledge of server cPanel for website
  • Excellent knowledge of MySQL database relationship architecture and best practices
  • Writing database queries using MySQLi and PHP Data Objects (PDO) prepared statements
  • Proven track record in coding to minimise / identify MySQL security threats
  • Excellent programming efficiency and to coding standards (W3C)
  • Proven experience developing a responsive website with user interface (UI), cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
  • Extensive and proven experience debugging and testing of web applications during development, prior to and after launch
  • Experienced in Bootstrap 3.0 and 4.0 framework and responsive development/design
  • Basic knowledge of legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information, privacy and data protection
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritise and collaboratively as an effective team member within the Marketing Department
  • Ability to communicate technical problems to non-technical co-workers,
  • Resolves/escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with Adobe suite would be an advantage
