Category Manager

The Role:

Selco is a rapidly expanding supplier of building materials to the trade with a unique trade only format. The success and development of Selco over recent years, in particular, plus the future development plans needs to be supported with additional resource at the Support Centre in Wythall and has created a requirement for additional Category Managers within the Commercial Department.

This new role will report directly to the Purchasing Director and will involve the management of product across a wide range of product categories.

The expectation is that the successful candidate will be able to develop and grow these categories within the Selco trading style, maximising sales and profitability with existing customers as well as attracting new customers with a range, price and availability offer that will exceed customer expectations.

The key accountabilities within the role will include Range Reviews, Supplier Negotiations, Market Intelligence, Monitoring and Driving Supplier Performance, Promotions, Supporting Web and Catalogue Data, Maintaining Accurate Supplier and Product Information, plus all the day to day Supplier/branch issues that as an experience Category Manager you will be used to dealing with.

The Person:

We are looking for an experienced Category Manager with good product knowledge across the full range of building materials, although we may consider candidates who have gained either Product or Category experience. The candidate should have good communication and negotiation skills with high levels of numeracy and excellent PC skills. You must be used to working to deadlines with a strong attention to details and be able to multitask and prioritise.

GCSE Level English and Maths preferred.
