JOB TITLE: Estates Health & Safety Officer

SALARY & BENEFITS: £18,494 - £20,458 pa

WORKING HOURS: Rotating shifts between the hours of 6:00am – 6:30pm daily but occasionally up to 10:30pm

THE COMPANY: We are currently working with a sixth form college in Solihull who is a specialist provider of A Level, BTEC and CACHE education to 16-19 year olds from Solihull and Birmingham. With more than 40 subjects on offer the college offers one of the widest range of courses in the region. An opportunity has arisen for an Estates Health and Safety Officer to join the team.

THE ROLE: As a Health and Safety Officer you will be part of the Estates team taking responsibility for providing an efficient care taking, portering, maintenance and health and safety support service.

Key Responsibilities for the Estates Health and Safety Officer role to include:-

• Opening up and locking down of the site and the security of College buildings and grounds
• Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of plant, equipment, buildings and grounds
• Responsible for general care-taking and undertaking portering duties including setting up for exams and special events and setting down
• Responsible for assisting with emergencies that may arise on the College site
• Liaison with contractors on site
• Be welcoming, respond to and assist with enquiries from visitors, suppliers, students and College staff
• Undertaking any other internal or external maintenance works

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will need to have a good general standard of education and have good verbal, written and IT skills. You will responsible, reliable and a good timekeeper with the ability to work as a member of a team. Ideally you will have relevant trade skill experience eg plumbing, carpentry etc or experience in grounds maintenance, though these are not essential. It is also highly advantageous that you have experience dealing with contractors.

Key experience essential for the role of the Estates Health and Safety Officer:-

• Experience of care-taking preferably in a school or college premises
• Willingness to work on a rotating rota system
• Live within a commutable distance to Solihull
