SALARY: Scale SC5 (point range 22-25)
HOURS: 37 hours p/w

THE COMPANY: Our client is a well-resourced 11-18 school with a sixth form. Their students are enthusiastic, talented and keen to succeed. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

THE ROLE: Our client is seeking to appoint an examinations officer to organise and administer all aspects of internal and external examinations within the school. The post has annualised hours of 1443 per annum and is for term time week days only plus the school training days (pro rata) and five other days in August for GCSE and A Level results. The working pattern is likely to be 37 hours a week but a flexible approach to hours will be needed due to the nature of the post.

Are you/Do you have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • The ability to support students and respond to parents/carers through fluent and accurately spoken English
  • Experience of Microsoft Office packages and use of databases and SIMS
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies/code of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  • The ability to maintain strictest confidentiality and integrity at all times
  • Excellent data input skills and a methodical approach to tasks with a key emphasis on accuracy

Specific Responsibilities of the role:

  • Draw up/revise school examination procedures to meet the requirements of the awarding bodies
  • Prepare entries for all external examinations
  • Produce and distribute student examination timetables
  • Co-ordinate the recruitment, training and monitoring of the exam invigilators according to the requirements of the awarding bodies
  • Co-ordinate the deployment of the exam invigilators, providing them with necessary information and instruction
  • Ensure the secure storage of examination papers before and after examinations
  • Collect, collate and return completed examination papers
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of the requirements of examination bodies in respect of candidate entry and conduct of examinations
  • Collate and analyse examination results, as appropriate, for publication and dissemination
  • Process requests for special consideration/arrangements for candidates
  • Collect in examination fees, where appropriate
  • Provide advice and information on all aspects of the examinations system to teachers, students and parents/carers, as appropriate
  • Manage examinations using appropriate software, e.g. SIMS
  • Take charge of the re-rooming of staff when necessary
  • Support the student data manager during the busy periods
  • Undertake typing of routine letters and other documents
  • Produce lists, information and data as required
  • Carry out photocopying, filing, faxing, emailing and complete routine forms
  • Printing and duplicating of a wide variety of documentation
  • Distribution of letters and other circulars to staff, students, parents/carers, governors and other stakeholders
  • Undertake reception duties as part of the admin team-eg answering the telephone, dealing with students, parents/carers and visitors
  • Assist with student first aid/welfare duties, looking after sick students, liaising with parents/carers and staff
