Telent currently have an opportunity for a Project Manager to join the Public Safety & Defence part of our business – We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of successful delivery of systems and /or solutions into the Emergency Services ICT sector.

The successful Project Manager will be responsible for the management of projects or bids, ensuring successful delivery and that all customers see telent as a business of excellence and one they wish to continue to work with.

We’d be delighted to hear from you if you have the following experience:
• Experience of Command and Control systems integration and delivered ICT transformation projects with awareness of the future ESN requirement for the Emergency Services.
• Strong change management skills. Experience in managing complex change programs in critical communication environments.
• Strong and Proven Ability to work under pressure.
• Good client facing skills and excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
• Excellent financial and commercial experience of managing project budget up to £3m.
• Ability to communicate at all levels in the business.
• Excellent understanding of risk and issue management and mitigation strategies.
• Working Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

Role Profile:
• Ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Leading project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
• Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
• The financial performance and reporting of all projects, including managing financial performance through Oracle.
• Contractual Quality and Health & Safety for all projects.
• Developing the project’s Management Team, setting standards, identifying the required levels of training and defining specific project roles for all projects.
• Working independently with minimal guidance.
• Matrix management of the project teams.
• Reporting project performance, highlighting and managing all risks & issues and their mitigations throughout the project life cycle.
• Production of standard project documentation and storage on Oracle UCM.

Typical Deliverables:
• Ensuring Projects are properly launched with the right stakeholders into the business.
• Managing budgets, programmes, project risks, issues, project scope and project change control.
• QEHS are engaged on projects at the right times taking a proactive approach in managing quality standards and the prevention of Health and Safety Issues.
• Acting as key stakeholder in managing business change
• Customer liaison and stakeholder management as and where required.
• 3rd Party Management. Experienced in managing multiple concurrent 3rd party software developments with design interdependencies.
• Ensuring strict financial control of projects are maintained providing project financial status reports during the review periods and promoting the use of Oracle functionality.
• Completing periodic contract reviews.
• Managing project “Close Out”, including final accounts process and project archiving.
• Always ensuring we adopt a full ownership end-to-end culture from start of contract through project phase to proper handover into mobilisation teams for service.

Business Operations Skills – Qualifications:
• Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent in an appropriate discipline is desirable. Depth and breadth of experience will be taken into account where these qualifications have not been attained.
• Prince 2 Practitioner.
• Practical use of Microsoft Office applications including, MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Practical use of a Document Management System e.g. Oracle UCM.

Preferable
• IOSH trained.
