As a result of an increasing number of new engine and machine programmes, they are seeking a talented APQP Engineer with a strong background in APQP & related Quality Engineering Systems, to join their team. You will be working on a combination of exciting new product development projects and supporting a continuous improvement process on existing products. The APQP Engineer is responsible for leading component/product development projects at supplier manufacturing locations and providing quality leadership during pre-production builds/production ramp up.

The Role:

* Complete APQP activities and process development with suppliers
* Lead risk and failure analysis (FMEA) to ensure functional specification requirements are fully met during design/process validation with suppliers.
* Assist in the development of dimensional control strategies with suppliers
* Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.
* Complete supplier process audits and follow open items to closure
* Integrate Program lessons learned in APQP activities with all suppliers
* Coordinate & review all supplier PPAP documentation, prior to the approval process
* Internally escalate potential product/process quality issues and develop a plan with suppliers to resolve prior to PPAP approval
* Manage engineering changes as it relates to suppliers from the initiation of the change to the finalisation of the PPAP
* Perform work in accordance with IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards
* Performs other related duties as assigned


Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent level of experience.

* Extensive experience of APQP gate review development process.
* Working knowledge of the adoption & implementation of AIAG recommendations & guidelines.
* Understanding of FMEA and GD&T.
* Understanding of manufacturing engineering with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, automotive castings, complex product assemblies, metal and plastic forming, automotive electronics/sensors, tooling, fixtures and gauges.
* Extensive professional experience in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment preferred, ideally in either the automotive or off-highway powertrain industry.
* Goal orientated with strong written and oral communications skills.
* Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% of the time and work extended hours based on project requirements.
