Vacancy: Food Allergens - Lead Scientist

Salary: GBP22,500 - GBP30,000 per annum

Contract type: Permanent Full Time

Location: Cotswolds

Main Duties:

The main duties will focus on food allergen testing including but not limited to:

- Full involvement of testing service - testing in all areas including food allergen testing, food authenticity and chemical and biochemical causes of quality change.
- Writing of procedures & methods for food allergen testing
- Advice and consultancy to clients in the area of food allergens in the biochemistry section
- Training of teams
- Initiating, managing and taking part in company events including internal and external training courses on food allergens
- Aiding in the development of new business around food allergens and biochemistry projects
- Maintaining and updating knowledge of scientific and technical issues
- Management of biochemistry research projects including financial management

Experience/Skills required:

- Degree/PhD Qualified in relevant area of Food Technology or Science
- Industry experience (At least 3 years) in food allergen testing and management controls, specifically with ELISA, DNA, or mass spectroscopy
- Excellent knowledge of QMS such as ISO9000 and ISO17025
- Ability to manage a small team along with project management skills are required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical
