Following a number of years of profitable growth, we are continuing the expansion of our team to enable further market penetration and greater client support. We are now seeking an ambitious Air Quality Consultant to join our growing team and fulfil a key role in achieving these goals.
The base office will be Southam, very close to the historic market town of Leamington Spa, and the successful candidate will play an important role in the growth of the business in the region. SOCOTEC UK Limited has offices across England, Scotland and Wales, and the role will also provide the opportunity to work in different regions and on a wide variety of environmental permitting and air quality assessment projects for planning purposes especially in the fields of waste / resource efficiency and environmental management.
About the role:
This role enables progression through a number of levels of seniority based on experience and ability. The successful candidate will be supported in the role by "on the job" and specific training courses to ensure development of technical and operational competence, and to facilitate the individuals career progression in accordance with a bespoke career development plan which we will create.

This role covers many aspects of air quality and odour assessment, from single source dispersion modelling studies, through to more complex, multi-source industrial impact assessments and related permitting. The successful candidate would undertake a range of duties potentially including but not limited to the following:

- Air quality and odour assessments primarily in support of planning applications for development schemes and industrial permits.
- Dispersion modelling of roads and point sources using ADMS.
- Processing of data and data interpretation.
- Providing support to project managers.
- Preparation of reports, both factual and interpretative.
- Day to day management of projects / tasks, including management of supplier involvement, budgets and timeframes.
- Involvement in the creation of successful proposals.
- Delivery of all work (field and office based) safely and in line with SOCOTEC UK Limited's safety policies and procedures.
- Providing excellent customer service to existing and new clients.

Based in the SOCOTEC Southam office (although other locations may be considered) the successful candidate will provide support to Project Managers by assisting with these elements of the work. The role will involve working on site and in other SOCOTEC offices on occasion.

The role would suit candidates with air quality assessment experience in environmental consultancy. Candidates may have experience across client sectors or have more focussed experience within waste management/resource efficiency, environmental planning or environmental permitting.
The successful candidate will have a relevant BSc qualification in the environmental sciences or chemistry and although not essential, a second degree in a complimentary subject will be a distinct advantage.
Having worked in this field previously the ideal candidate will also have:

- Relevant consultancy experience in both transport and industrial air quality modelling.
- Experience of ADMS, AERMOD and DMRB as well as a good understanding of LAQM and the UK planning and regulatory system.
- Good GIS skills (ArcGIS or MapInfo).
- Project management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commercial awareness.
- A strong customer focussed engagement style.
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office applications and a selection of industry specific specialist packages.
- Membership of a relevant professional institute such as the Institution of Environmental Sciences and the Institute of Air Quality Management (AQM) and be working towards Chartership.
- A full UK driving licence.
