Role Summary/Purpose
To complete tasks to meet the objectives of the Hardware Engineering Team in supporting the needs of the Marine business within the UK.

Essential Responsibilities
• To recommend, develop and maintain standard hardware solutions/systems in order to improve the overall engineering efficiency and increase the businesses competitiveness in the market.
• To provide support to projects and contracts in the use of the standards and the technologies used within them.
• To provide support to projects and contracts in the area of regulatory issues, and standard engineering practices
• To propose and/or develop new electronic products and technologies in order to improve the overall engineering efficiency and increase the businesses competitiveness in the market.
• Perform development, maintenance and support tasks as allocated by Functional Team Leader.
• Follow appropriate company quality systems when developing new products and equipment standards.
• Publish information and documentation on standard equipment and products
• Use change management tools for equipment standards.

Supervision
• Take responsibility to complete the allocated tasks to the best of ability, and within the allocated time and cost constraints
• Supervise delegated work (e.g. to DO or peers) to ensure it is completed within the allocated time and cost constraints.

Administration
• Good personal administration is essential due to the support nature of the section's work.
• Keeping a record of work done
• Accurate and timely update of time sheets
• Comprehensive and clear personal note keeping (engineering notebook)
• An ordered personal filing system (electronic and paper)
• Use non-personal filing so far as possible to ensure global access to knowledge and information gathered.
• Make use of company standard/shared tools where appropriate; e.g. Product Lifecycle Management tool

Leadership
• Provide leadership and supervision to technical support staff (e.g. Draughtspersons or Engineering Assistants when required.

Staff Development
• Identify needs or opportunities for technical and personal training/development as appropriate.

Behaviour
• Display a professional attitude to work at all times; in the office, dealing with suppliers, dealing with customers.
• Ensure that Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are satisfied during all work activities and in working environment.
• Ensure adherence to GE compliance rules

Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications/Training
• BEng or Equivalent degree in electrical and electronic engineering or systems engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Must be PC literate and familiar with all Microsoft Office Tools
